Training

At Rockin H Ranch, Walt Erwin takes his training very seriously and provides a state of the art facility for the horses. Customers have always come first and by remaining loyal to this philosophy, he will continue to produce quality show horses.

Each month that a colt is in training, they are evaluated on their ability and skill in the cutting pen. Walt uses effective training techniques to get the most out of each cutting horse while always remembering that each horse is an individual. Here at Rockin H, Walt uses both cows and a mechanical cow (flag) to fine tune each horse to the best of their ability.

While in training, all horses have large stables with plenty of room, a lighted arena, wash stations and nice tack rooms. Their diet consists of our own high quality organic hay made right here at Rockin H Ranch which is complete with all the nutrients needed for a well balanced diet and is produced in mass amounts. In addition, there is a full time veterinarian on staff for all needs.

Dr. Marcella

Dr. Ken Marcella has been on the staff of the University of Virginia as a professor of Comparative Medicine, proceeding into private sport horse practice.

Within the endurance world, he has vetted many endurance rides, including as an FEI vet, Head Treatment Vet at the PanAm Endurance Championship in 2004, and Head Vet for the AERC National Championship in 2008. His interestes span muscle damage, lameness, and performance.

Meet one of our happy customers, Ron Cercy

Originally from Long Island, New York, retired police captain Ron Cercy has made his home in Cleveland, Georgia. After retiring from the Police Department and Snap on Tools, he knew exactly what he was going to do now that his days are free. Being involved with horses for over 50 years, he purchased a four acre farm in Cleveland and began purchasing 2 year old Cutting horses to train. His love for team penning led him to meet John Hulsey and they began to pursue a working relationship at Rockin H Ranch.

He purchased TR Hickory Rey from John in 2009 and began working with Walt assisting him with the training of Rey. From a champion bloodline, his father, TR Dual Rey, had winnings over $300,000.00.
